New Eyes

new eyes

You’re giving me new eyes
There is a weight to everything
The spirit is thick
It has authority and takes up space
You’ve made the dark places new
Even the ones in which I was responsible for the darkness
You smooth out the sharp edges
While sharpening my dull perceptions of you
I walk with confidence
Taking in everything that you’ve made new
Realizing I can count myself among them
Paint your will on my face
May your direction be in my bloodstream
You’ve given me new eyes
Now teach me how to use them
